Charlie Vandenbelt

Charlie Vandenbelt

Chuck is originally from Ottawa, Canada, arriving late in 1977. he started playing at the age of 12 and played in several "basement bands" before emigrating.

At the age of 18 Chuck joined the local hard rock band Storm, which went on to be known as Taipan. He did many gigs at the infamous Bombay Rock, Bananas and many Melbourne venues, supporting local and overseas acts.

He then played in many different bands, trying to find a sound that was in his head, but couldn't quite nail. He then joined local band "Dirty Rats" and played another long string of shows. The band toured interstate and country Victoria before it's demise.

The original Coytoes was put together for a rockabilly singer whose outfit was known as Wile E and the Coyotes. The gigs never materialised and Chuck kept the band together as a 3 piece. The Coyotes played their debut gig at the Mackinnon hotel roughly 20 years ago.

Since then the band has gone on to play literally hundreds of gigs, for bike clubs, pubs, concerts, birthdays, charities and many other events too numerous to mention.

The band is back, with it's toughest, sharpest lineup and songs to date. With a cd due to be released later this year The Coyotes are at their ominous best.

Stuart Aldridge
